What is OpticTM?
Fitness is more than performing a set number of reps in a pre-determined series of exercises. It involves attention to the overall health, strengths and weaknesses of the individual; form, posture, specificity of movement, development of core strength, balance, proper progression, and other detail. Additionally, fitness is virtually impossible to achieve and maintain without paying attention to diet.
The Doug Owens Method combines weight training, aggressive conditioning, flexibility, and dietary excellence in a program called Optimal Performance Through Intensive Conditioning (OPTICTM). The method emphasizes teaching an understanding of how your body works, which results in not only knowing what to do, but how to do it and why. In addition to promoting better fitness, a good understanding of physiology and function can help to prevent injuries. It is this comprehensive approach to fitness that produces a much better result.
